The PRC Board of Agricultural Engineering establishes a comprehensive Code of Ethics and Professional Standards to ensure integrity, competence, and responsible practice among registered agricultural engineers, promoting public trust and professional accountability.

It is adopted pursuant to Section 9(h), Article III of R.A. No. 8559 (Philippine Agricultural Engineering Act of 1998) and Section 39, Article XI of the Rules and Regulations Implementing R.A. No. 8559, subject to approval by the PRC.

The Code is the Code of Ethics and Professional Standards for agricultural engineers, providing rules to maintain high standards of competence and integrity in the practice of the profession.

It is a natural or juridical person that engages the professional services of registered agricultural engineer(s) holding valid certificate of registration and professional identification card issued under R.A. No. 8559.

They must act with highest sense of integrity, nationalism, and spiritual values, including fidelity, fairness, and impartiality to clients/employers; upholding honor and dignity; applying technical knowledge for the benefit of mankind and agro-industrial development; and being fair and tolerant in dealings with fellow engineers.

Agricultural engineers must not advertise their work or merit in a self-laudatory manner and must avoid conduct that discredits or injures the dignity and honor of the profession.

By continuously updating professional knowledge, skills, and competitiveness through meaningful participation in Continuing Professional Education (CPE) programs required by the CPE Council for Registered Agricultural Engineers.

They must not make ex-parte statements, criticisms, or opinions on matters connected with public policy inspired or paid for by private interest, unless they indicate on whose behalf they are making the statement.

Agricultural engineers have direct responsibility for safeguarding the life and health of the public and employees who may be affected by work for which they are responsible.

Engineers should disseminate public knowledge on agricultural engineering and discourage, if not curb, the spread of untrue, unfair, and exaggerated statements about the profession.

They should express only opinions founded on adequate knowledge and honest conviction.

They must act as faithful agents and trustees.

Especially when the engagement requires the use of inventions, agricultural engineering apparatus and equipment, and/or other things which have financial interest.

Engineers must clearly bring out the consequences that might arise if deviations from their engineering works or opinions would be overruled by non-technical authority.

They must not disclose information concerning clients’ business affairs or technical processes without consent, unless obeying a lawful order or a court.

Engineers must ensure that credit for engineering work is given to those to whom credit is properly due.

Engineers must refrain from committing acts that injure the professional reputation of fellow engineers; specifically they must not criticize another’s work in public, and technical discussions/criticisms should occur in proper forums such as engineering societies and the engineering press.

Engineers must not resort to unfair competition by underbidding or reducing usual fees after acquiring information as to the fees offered by another engineer for similar services.

Any registered and licensed agricultural engineer who violates the Code is administratively liable under Section 23, Article IV of R.A. No. 8559 and the implementing rules; the Board may impose revocation of the certificate of registration or suspension from practice.

It takes effect after fifteen (15) days following full and complete publication in the Official Gazette or any newspaper of general circulation in the Philippines.
