BAI Administrative Order No. 01, S. 2005 classifies various feed ingredients, supplements, additives, and specialty feeds into clear categories to enhance understanding and compliance within the animal nutrition industry.

Questions (BAI ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 01, S. 2005)

To provide clear grouping/classification of animal feed ingredients, feed supplements, feed additives, special nutrient preparations, and specialty feeds, to avoid confusion for guidance of all concerned.

I. Feed Ingredients; II. Feed Supplements; III. Feed Additives; IV. Special Nutrient Preparations; and V. Specialty Feeds.

Examples include banana meal (peeled/unpeeled), barley (hulled), camote/sweet potato meal, cassava/tapioca meal, corn (yellow/white), dextrose powder, oats, rice (broken), sorghum, sugar, triticale, and wheat.

Protein Sources are split into (1) Animal Origin, (2) Plant Origin, and separately (3) Non-protein Nitrogen Sources (e.g., urea), which is not a protein source.

Examples include blood meal, fish meal (imported/local), meat and bone meal, plasma protein, poultry meal, shrimp meal, and squid meal (any three).

Examples include alfalfa, canola meal, cassava leaf meal, cottonseed oil meal, mungbean, peanut oil meal, peas, soybean meal (various origins), sunflower seeds, sesame meal, or soy protein concentrate (any three).

Urea.

Examples include bakery by-products (cookies/biscuits, scrap noodles, chocolate, etc.), brewer’s dried spent grain, brewer’s yeast/dreggs, copra meal, corn bran/germ meal/gluten meal/feed, distiller’s yeast, molasses, rice bran, soy hull, and wheat bran (any two).

Examples include bone meal, calcium carbonate/limestone, dicalcium phosphate, monocalcium phosphate, tricalcium phosphate, and oyster shell.

Common table salt and iodized salt.

A. Amino Acid Sources; B. Micro-Mineral Sources; C. Vitamin Sources; and D. Vitamin and Mineral Combinations.

DL-Methionine, L-Lysine, L-Threonine, and L-Tryptophan.

Examples include Acidifiers, Antibiotics/Antimicrobials, Antioxidants, Antibiotic/Anti-molds, Coccidiostats, Enzymes, Hormones, Probiotics/Microbials/Yeasts, Preservatives, Toxin binders, and others (any five categories).

Probiotics/Microbials/Yeasts (also could include Immuno-stimulants or Enzymes, depending on context).

A. Artemia; B. Base mixes; C. Concentrates; and D. Combination meals.

Examples include horse feeds for race/sport horses, fish feeds for aquarium fishes, rabbit feeds, bird feeds, dog food, cat food, zoo animal feeds, and fighting cock feeds.

It takes effect upon approval and shall supersede all other Orders inconsistent with it.
