: Major General Paulino Santos, Regular Force, was relieved as Chief of Staff.
: He retired from active service at the close of December 31, 1938.
: Major General Basilio J. Valdes, Regular Force, was designated as the new Chief of Staff.
: He was the Deputy Chief of Staff.
: The duties are prescribed in the National Defense Act and pertinent executive orders.
: It was signed on December 31, 1938.
: Commonwealth Act No. 312 amended the National Defense Act and provided authority for changes in the General Staff Corps.
: The Secretary to the President, Jorge B. Vargas, officially recorded and attested the issuance of the order on behalf of the President.
