Q&A (QUEZON CITY ORDICE NO. SP-2319, S-2014)

The ordinance provides for the city's annual observance of the Bullying Prevention and Awareness Month every October to raise awareness and prevent bullying among students in Quezon City.

Councilor Franz S. Pumaren introduced the ordinance, with several co-introducers from the City Council.

It aligns with Republic Act No. 10627, also known as the Anti-Bullying Law, and Quezon City Ordinance No. SP-2157, S-2012.

The Social Services and Development Department of Quezon City is primarily responsible, in coordination with public and private elementary and secondary schools.

The observance includes psychological services such as one-on-one counseling, peer group counseling, family counseling, organization of students against bullying, and awareness on relevant laws and legal matters.

Guidance counselors handle psychological services, and school attorneys provide legal services. If these officers are unavailable, the Social Services and Development Department will provide them in coordination with other city departments.

It takes effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in a newspaper of general circulation.

The city government plays a vital role by spearheading programs and projects to protect children's rights and by conducting information dissemination and massive campaigns against bullying.

It is observed annually every month of October.

The collaboration ensures coordinated efforts for awareness and prevention campaigns against bullying, ensuring that both government and educational institutions work together to protect children.
