Executive Order No. 229, dated June 17, 1949, is an order organizing certain portions of the municipalities of Balilihan, Antequera, and Tubigon in the Province of Bohol into an independent municipality named San Jacinto.
The municipalities affected were Balilihan, Antequera, and Tubigon, from which certain portions were reorganized to form San Jacinto.
The seat of government of the Municipality of San Jacinto is at the barrio of Catigbian.
The Municipality of San Jacinto is composed of the following barrios: Catigbian (poblacion), Jaguilanan, Ambuan, Hagbuaya, Ba-ang, Triple Union, Alegria, Cauawagan Norte, Candumayao, Buenos Aires, Libertad, Cabanugan, San Isidro, Cambansag, Causwagan Sur, Caimbang, and Cansagui.
It takes effect upon the appointment and qualification of the municipal mayor, vice-mayor, and a majority of the councilors of San Jacinto.
The boundaries are described through a series of points and directions with distances, referencing hilltops and ridges, based on a map dated May 1948 submitted by the District Engineer of Bohol.
Their territories remain the same except that the portions incorporated into San Jacinto are excluded from their jurisdiction.
Elpidio Quirino was the President of the Philippines when the order was signed.
Teodoro Evangelista signed the Executive Order No. 229 as Executive Secretary.
