Executive Order No. 360, issued on October 11, 1959, created the Municipality of Valencia in the Province of Bukidnon.
The barrios of Valencia, Gunuyoran, Lilingayon, Lurogan, Mailag, Bagontaas, Sugod, San Isidro, Cawayanon, Lugayao, Laigan, Maapag, Talisayan, and Tongatongan, along with their respective sitios from the municipality of Malaybalay, were segregated to form the Municipality of Valencia.
