The policy of the State is to ensure the sustainable development of Boracay Island as a priority tourism destination through government planning, support projects, and programs to preserve its attractiveness.
Boracay Island is proclaimed as a Special Tourism Zone.
The President of the Philippines is authorized to designate the Boracay Eminent Persons Group.
The main purpose is to oversee the sustainable development of Boracay tourism on behalf of the President and the Secretary of Tourism.
The island of Boracay consisting of three barangays: Yapak, Balabag, Manok-Manok; all islets around it; and Barangay Caticlan in the Municipality of Malay in Mainland Panay Island.
They include formulating sustainable tourism plans, recommending rules and regulations, advocating sustainable policies, prioritizing major projects, coordinating relevant enterprises, enforcing proper land use, and ensuring preservation of natural and cultural heritage.
They lose their private sector character if they request and receive government funding for their activities, thus acquiring the nature of government officials.
The Group Secretary is appointed by the President of the Philippines.
The compensation and operating expenses are appropriated from the funds of the Philippine Tourism Authority.
That portion will be nullified, but it will not affect other portions or provisions of the order that can still subsist and be given full effect.
