Q&A (EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 414)

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is authorized to oversee the establishment of the AIDT.

The DTI is authorized to oversee the project for a period of three years.

The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), a state university of New York, is the international partner assisting in the establishment of AIDT.

FIT assists by allowing its faculty and experts to conduct initial studies for the establishment of AIDT and to provide training programs designed to upgrade professional skills of the fashion industry workforce at subsidized rates.

The DTI is tasked to (1) negotiate and conclude contracts with FIT for training programs and capability building activities and (2) coordinate with TESDA on training design, content, and implementation to address needs of the fashion design export industry.

The DTI is authorized to secure and provide necessary funds for the implementation of the project and to authorize the Philippine Trade and Training Center (PTTC) to collect seminar fees and use them as revolving funds for the project.

The Department of Trade and Industry must coordinate with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

TESDA is responsible for formulating and coordinating technical education and skills development policies and reviewing technical assistance programs for technical education or skills development related to the project.

Executive Order No. 414 took effect immediately upon its signing on May 22, 1997.
