Act No. 2217 authorizes municipal councils to appropriate a certain sum out of the school funds at the beginning of each year for the creation and maintenance of night schools in English within their municipalities.
At least one hundred pupils must petition the municipal council, with the assent of the provincial school superintendent, for the creation of night schools.
The school superintendent of the province must give assent to the petition.
The salary for any teacher attending and teaching in said night schools shall not be greater than twenty pesos.
The school superintendent is responsible for appointing a teacher for each night school.
Preference is given to the public school teachers of each municipality.
The salary is fixed by the school superintendent in coordination with the municipal council, subject to the limitation that it cannot exceed twenty pesos.
The Act takes effect immediately upon its passage, as specified in Section 3.
Funds can be appropriated if there is a petition signed by at least one hundred pupils and with the assent of the provincial school superintendent.
The night schools are to provide instruction in the English language.
