The main purpose of Republic Act No. 10701 is to create an additional branch of the Regional Trial Court to be stationed at Initao, situated in the Province of Misamis Oriental, in the Tenth Judicial Region.
The new RTC branch created by RA 10701 belongs to the Tenth Judicial Region.
The Supreme Court has the authority to assign the branch number of the newly created RTC branch.
RA 10701 amends Section 14, paragraph (k) of Batas Pambansa Blg. 129, otherwise known as The Judiciary Reorganization Act of 1980, as amended.
The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, in coordination with the Secretary of the Department of Justice, shall include the operationalization of the additional RTC branch in the Court’s program and ensure the funding for it is included in the Annual General Appropriations Act.
Funds shall be appropriated and released only upon the actual organization of the court and the appointment of its personnel.
All laws, executive orders, and rules and regulations which are inconsistent with RA 10701 are amended, repealed, or modified accordingly.
RA 10701 took effect fifteen (15) days after its complete publication in two newspapers of general circulation.
