Presidential Decree No. 335 amends Section 15 of Republic Act No. 4374, otherwise known as the Geodetic Engineering Law.
The amendment was intended to allow graduates of Civil Engineering or undergraduates who have completed third year of Civil or Geodetic Engineering, under certain conditions, to qualify in the Board Examination for Junior Geodetic Engineers.
Presidential Decree No. 335 was promulgated by President Ferdinand E. Marcos on November 13, 1973.
An applicant must hold the degree of Associate in Surveying, or a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, or have completed third year in Geodetic or Civil Engineering with credits in specific courses such as Laws on Natural Resources, Laws on Land Registration and Property, Land Reform Laws, Land Property Surveys, Photogrammetry, and Cartography from a recognized institution.
The required courses are Laws on Natural Resources, Laws on Land Registration and Property, Land Reform Laws, Land Property Surveys, Photogrammetry, and Cartography.
It authorizes the holder to execute land surveys or phases thereof subject to conditions and limitations prescribed by the Board of Geodetic Engineers.
It means the provisions of the Decree became effective immediately upon its promulgation, allowing qualified individuals to apply for the Junior Geodetic Engineer Examination and registration without delay.
The objective was to effect desired changes and reforms in the social, economic, and political structure of society by addressing the manpower needs for land surveys essential to land reform and public land management.
