The main purpose is to amend Section One of Presidential Decree No. 352 to provide increased group term insurance coverage for members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Integrated National Police (INP), including cadets, probationary officers, trainees, and draftees, to ensure financial protection for their dependents and maintain their efficiency.

The Special Group Term Insurance coverage was P6,000.00 before the increase stipulated in PD No. 1965.

The maximum amount is increased to P12,000.00 per member annually, renewable thereafter.

All members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Integrated National Police in active service, including cadets of the Philippine Military Academy and Philippine Air Force Flying School, probationary officers, trainees, and draftees.

The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) or other insurance firms approved by the Minister of National Defense and mutually agreed with the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

The premium is shared equally between each member of the AFP and INP (paying 50%) and the Government (paying the remaining 50%).

The Minister of National Defense approves the terms, conditions, and premium rates after mutual agreement between the GSIS or other insurance providers and the Chief of Staff of the AFP.

Yes, in addition to existing compulsory insurance, members covered under this decree shall be insured under the Special Group Term Insurance program.
