PD No. 773 amends Presidential Decree No. 742.
Region IX is composed of Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur; and the cities of Dapitan, Dipolog, Pagadian, and Zamboanga.
Jolo is designated as the Regional Center for Region IX.
Region IX is divided into two sub-regions: Sub-Region IX-A and Sub-Region IX-B.
Sub-Region IX-A is composed of Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.
Sub-Region IX-B is composed of Zamboanga del Norte and Zamboanga del Sur, and the cities of Dapitan, Dipolog, Pagadian, and Zamboanga.
Zamboanga City is designated as the center for Sub-Region IX-B.
Assistant Regional Commissioners are to be appointed for each sub-region.
Agencies with responsibilities throughout Region IX must appoint Assistant Regional Directors for each sub-region.
To improve the administrative structure by creating regions that coordinate government operations more effectively, bring government closer to the people, and encourage participation in development.
Zamboanga City is included as part of Region IX and is specifically listed as part of Sub-Region IX-B.
