Ferdinand E. Marcos amends Executive Order No. 215 to designate the Secretary of Public Works and Communications as the Executive Director of the Presidential Committee on Housing and Urban Resettlement, enhancing coordination for the government's mass housing program.

Executive Order No. 343 amends Executive Order No. 215 dated March 7, 1970, which reorganized the Presidential Committee on Housing and Urban Resettlement.

The Secretary of Public Works and Communications (as Executive Director) assumes the executive functions of the Committee, including those previously exercised by the Action Officer, who then becomes a Member of the Committee.

The People’s Homesite and Housing Corporation, the National Housing Corporation, the Social Security System, and the Government Service Insurance System.

It links the need for closer coordination and more effective committee machinery to fully carry out the general objectives of the national priority program on housing and resettlement.

It indicates that the President is acting pursuant to constitutionally and statutorily granted authority to issue executive orders; it serves as a jurisdictional/legal basis for the amendment.

It elevates the Secretary of Public Works and Communications as Executive Director with executive functions, while reallocating the prior Action Officer’s executive role by making that officer a regular member.

It assigns the Executive Director both administrative coordination and execution/implementation duties to translate the Committee’s decisions into operational actions.
