The Board shall be headed by a Chairman with the rank and privileges of an Undersecretary, assisted by seven members (including a sociologist, clergyman, educator, person with expertise in correction work, a member of the Philippine Bar, a retired member of the Judiciary, and the Administrator of the Parole and Probation Administration as ex-officio member). One member must be a woman.
The Chairman and members are appointed by the President upon the recommendation of the Secretary of Justice, serve full time, and have a term of office of six years.
The Chairman has the rank and privileges of an Undersecretary, while the members have the rank and privileges of an Assistant Secretary.
The seven members must include a sociologist, a clergyman, an educator, a person trained in correction work, a lawyer (member of the Philippine Bar), a retired member of the Judiciary, and the Administrator of the Parole and Probation Administration as ex-officio member.
One of the members of the Board must be a woman.
The financial resources shall be taken from the available funds of the Department of Justice.
The Chairman receives honoraria equivalent to the hiring rate of an Undersecretary (Salary Grade 30), and each member receives honoraria equivalent to that of an Assistant Secretary (Salary Grade 29).
