Republic Act No. 8952 is an Act amending Republic Act No. 7698 to declare August 6 of every year a special nonworking public holiday in the Province of Cebu, including its highly urbanized cities and certain component cities.

It shall take effect upon its approval.
RA 8952 was approved on August 31, 2000.
Sec. 2 provides the rule on when the law becomes effective—upon approval—so the holiday coverage becomes binding immediately after presidential approval.
The bill originated in the House; it was finally passed by the House on August 24, 1999 and by the Senate on June 8, 2000.
It indicates that beyond the general reference to the Province of Cebu, the listed cities are expressly covered under the same holiday declaration.
