Ephedrine and Pseudoephedrine, including their isomers, salts, halogenated and alkylated forms, as well as any material, compound, mixture, or preparation containing these substances, are reclassified as dangerous drugs.

The Board has the authority under Section 93, Article XI of Republic Act No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Because these forms can be used as precursors for the manufacture of methamphetamine, and illicit drug manufacturers have been synthesizing these forms to circumvent existing regulations.
