The Department of Health establishes standards and technical requirements for the licensure and regulation of ambulatory surgical clinics specializing in oral and maxillo-facial surgery, ensuring public access to inspection tools and compliance information.

Q&A (DOH DEPARTMENT MEMORANDUM NO. 2008-0111)

The primary mandate of the DOH is to protect and preserve the health of the people, including oral health.

Administrative Order No. 183 s. 2004, dated November 16, 2004, governs the licensure and regulation of ambulatory surgical clinics.

Ambulatory surgical clinics are classified according to the services/procedures performed by the different surgical specialties.

The Bureau of Health Facilities and Services (BHFS) is responsible.

The purpose is to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards in the licensure and regulation of these clinics, incorporated into the inspection tool.

The inspection tool shall be made available to the public by posting it on the DOH official website (www.doh.gov.ph).

Francisco T. Duque, M.D., M.Sc., Secretary of Health, signed the memorandum.

Section IV mandates the classification of ambulatory surgical clinics by surgical specialties and requires the incorporation of corresponding standards and technical requirements in the inspection tool.

Such clinics must comply with the standards and technical requirements set by the DOH and be subject to inspection based on the standardized inspection tool to maintain licensure and regulatory compliance.
