The Boards for Marine Deck and Engineer Officers have resolved to implement a single licensure examination for Management Level officers, streamlining certification processes and addressing the global shortage of qualified maritime professionals.

The Second Engineer Officer licensure examination is designated as the licensure examination for the Management Level of Marine Engineer Officers.

Upon application, required fee, and Board approval, a registered/licensed Chief Mate who completed at least 24 months of approved seagoing service as Chief Mate on board 500 gross tonnage or more may be upgraded and issued the Certificate of Registration/License as Master Mariner.

At least 24 months of approved seagoing service as Second Engineer Officer on board powered by main propulsion machinery of 750Kw propulsion power or more.

The applicant must file an application, pay the required fee, and obtain approval by the Board.

It directs that a copy be published in the Official Gazette and furnished the U.P. Law Center.

It states that it supersedes any previous issuance to the contrary.

It shall take effect immediately.

It deems a single licensure examination as a positive and proactive solution to the global shortage of Management Level officers.
