The PRC Board of Electrical Engineering adopts the revised 2000 (4th) Edition of the Philippine Electrical Code Part 2, enhancing safety regulations for electrical installations and integrating it as a referral code in the National Building Code.

Engr. Amador C. Calado, Jr., Chairman of the Code Committee, and Engr. Ramon P. Ayaton, Acting Head, Technical Services Group of the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. (IIEE).

To incorporate it as part of the Rules and Regulations Governing the Practice of Electrical Engineering and as a referral code in accordance with the National Building Code.

The rules covering the method of connections to electrodes and the ground resistance requirement were changed to address more directly the grounding of substations.

They were revised to clarify application to High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) systems, with major changes in communication circuits and fiber optics cable rules, as well as updated tables and rearranged sub-topics.

Modification for consistency and clarity regarding random separation of direct buried cables.

They were extended to include High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) systems.

The Secretary of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Fifteen (15) days following its publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation in the Philippines, whichever comes earlier.
