The Board for Master Plumbers has adopted and promulgated the Revised National Plumbing Code, modernizing plumbing practices and materials in the Philippines for the first time in nearly 40 years.

The Board for Master Plumbers was created under Republic Act No. 1378.

It was prepared by the National Master Plumbers Association of the Philippines (NAMPAP) and promulgated and issued by the Board for Master Plumbers on January 28, 1959.

It was approved by the Office of the President in the same year it was promulgated (1959).

Because the original code had been in existence for almost forty (40) years since its promulgation and had never been amended.

In 1994, it created a Plumbing Code Committee to amend/revise the National Plumbing Code. In 1999, it created a Plumbing Code Review Committee to go over the work of the Plumbing Code Committee.

The two committees submitted the Revised National Plumbing Code of the Philippines for adoption, promulgation, and issuance by the Board.

The Board found that the Revised National Plumbing Code submitted by the committees is in accord with modern technologies in plumbing materials and practice.

It governs the practice of plumbing, and the design, installation, and use of plumbing fixtures and materials in buildings and infrastructure projects where such fixtures and materials are necessary.

After thirty (30) days following its complete publication in the Official Gazette or in any newspaper of general circulation, whichever is earlier.
