Question & AnswerQ&A (NTA MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR)
The purpose is to promulgate the 1995 floor prices of air-cured Burley leaf tobacco per grade in accordance with the regulatory powers of the National Tobacco Administration (NTA).
The NTA is issuing this under its regulatory powers granted by Executive Order No. 245.
The grades mentioned are A, B, C, D, E, F, and R (Usable).
The minimum floor price for Grade A air-cured Burley tobacco is P26.50 per kilo.
Burley tobacco farmers and members of the Philippine Aromatic Tobacco and Development Association, Inc. (PATDA-Burley Tobacco Group) were consulted.
Grade A is priced at P26.50 per kilo and Grade F at P11.00, making a difference of P15.50.
All sectors of the tobacco industry were involved in these conferences.
These floor prices set the minimum price that farmers should receive for their crops to ensure fair trade and protect their interests.
The floor prices took effect during the 1995 trading season.
